Ia mendalami filsafat dan teologi di sebuah perguruan tinggi di Nederland, lalu filsafat dan psikologi di Universitas Leuven, Belgia. Ia membantu mendirikan "Himpunan Dosen Etika Seluruh Indonesia" (HIDESI) dan menjadi ketuanya yang pertama (1990-1997). Karya-karya ilmiahnya antara lain: Sejarah Filsafat Yunani, Yogyakarta, Kanisius, 1975; Ringkasan Sejarah Filsafat, Yogyakarta, Kanisius, 1976; Filsafat Barat Abad XX, Jilid I, Jakarta, Gramedia, 1987; Etika, Jakarta, Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 1994; Pengantar Bisnis Etika, Yogyakarta, Kanisius, 2000. Ia mendalami filsafat dan teologi di sebuah perguruan tinggi di Nederland, lalu filsafat dan psikologi di Universitas Leuven, Belgia. Setelah mengajar selama dua tahun di Nederland, tahun 1968 ia memperoleh gelar "doktor filsafat" di Universitas Leuven, dengan disertai tentang Nicolas Malebranche, filsuf Prancis abad ke-17. Sejak tahun 1968 pula ia mengajar filsafat sitematis dan sejarah filsafat di berbagai perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Sejak tahun 1983 ia termasuk staf Pusat Pengembangan Etika, Universitas Atma Jaya, Jakarta, dan pernah menjabat sebagai direkturnya(1984-1995). Ia mengajar dan menekuni etika terapan, khususnya etika bisnis dan etika biomedis, serta meredasi "Seri Etika Biomedis". Ia membantu mendirikan "Himpunan Dosen Etika Seluruh Indonesia" (HIDESI) dan menjadi ketuanya yang pertama (1990-1997). Karya-karya ilmiahnya antara lain: Sejarah Filsafat Yunani, Yogyakarta, Kanisius, 1975; Ringkasan Sejarah Filsafat, Yogyakarta, Kanisius, 1976; Filsafat Barat Abad XX, Jilid I, Jakarta, Gramedia, 1987; Etika, Jakarta, Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 1994; Pengantar Bisnis Etika, Yogyakarta, Kanisius, 2000.
