Tentang Pengarang:
 Ia lahir di Jackson, Tennessee tahun 1940, kemudian pindah ke Mississippi, dan kuliah di Baylor University,Texas. Karier menulisnya dimulai saat meliput kejahatan kriminal di Amerika Serikat dan Meksiko sebagai reporter dan editor untuk Associated Press. Novel pertamanya Black Sundat terbit tahun 1975.
