Rosihan Anwar (lahir di Kubang Nan Dua, Sumatera Barat, 10 Mei 1922; umur 87 tahun) adalah tokoh pers Indonesia, meski dirinya lebih tepat dikatakan sebagai sastrawan bahkan budayawan. Rosihan yang memulai karier jurnalistiknya sejak berumur 20-an, tercatat telah menulis 21 judul buku dan mungkin ratusan artikel di hampir semua koran dan majalah utama di Indonesia dan di beberapa penerbitan asing.

Anak keempat dari sepuluh bersaudara putra Anwar Maharaja Sutan, seorang demang di Padang, Sumatera Barat ini menyelesaikan sekolah rakyat (HIS) dan SMP (MULO) di Padang. Ia pun melanjutkan pendidikannya ke AMS di Yogyakarta. Dari sana Rosihan mengikuti berbagai workshop di dalam dan di luar negeri, termasuk di Yale University dan School of Journalism di Columbia University, New York, Amerika Serikat.

Rosihan telah hidup dalam 'multi-zaman'. Di masa perjuangan, dirinya pernah disekap oleh penjajah Belanda di Bukitduri, Jakarta Selatan. Kemudian di masa Presiden Soekarno koran miliknya, Pedoman pada 1961 ditutup oleh rezim saat itu. Namun di masa peralihan pemerintah Orde Baru, Rosihan mendapat anugerah sebagai wartawan sejak sebelum Revolusi Indonesia dengan mendapatkan anugerah Bintang Mahaputra III, bersama tokoh pers Jakob Oetama. Sayangnya rezim Orde Baru ini pun menutup Pedoman pada tahun 1974-kurang dari setahun setelah Presiden Soeharto mengalungkan bintang itu di leher para penerimanya.

Rosihan memulai karier jurnalistiknya sebagai reporter Asia Raya di masa pendudukan Jepang tahun 1943 hingga menjadi pemimpin redaksi Siasat (1947-1957) dan Pedoman (1948-1961). Selama enam tahun, sejak 1968, ia menjabat Ketua Umum Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI). Bersama Usmar Ismail, pada 1950 ia mendirikan Perusahaan Film Nasional (Perfini). Dalam film pertamanya, Darah dan Doa, ia sekaligus menjadi figuran. Dilanjutkan sebagai produser film Terimalah Laguku. Sejak akhir 1981, aktivitasnya di film adalah mempromosikan film Indonesia di luar negeri dan tetap menjadi kritikus film sampai sekarang.

Pada tahun 2007, Rosihan Anwar dan Herawati Diah, yang ikut mendirikan Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) di Surakarta pada 1946 mendapat penghargaan 'Life Time Achievement' atau 'Prestasi Sepanjang Hayat' dari PWI Pusat.[1]

Rosihan menikah dengan Siti Zuraida Binti Moh. Sanawi pada tahun 1947 dan dikaruniai tiga anak.',

Rosihan yang memulai karier jurnalistiknya sejak berumur 20-an, tercatat telah menulis 21 judul buku dan mungkin ratusan artikel di hampir semua koran dan majalah utama di Indonesia dan di beberapa penerbitan asing.

Anak keempat dari sepuluh bersaudara putra Anwar Maharaja Sutan, seorang demang di Padang, Sumatera Barat ini menyelesaikan sekolah rakyat (HIS) dan SMP (MULO) di Padang. Ia pun melanjutkan pendidikannya ke AMS di Yogyakarta. Dari sana Rosihan mengikuti berbagai workshop di dalam dan di luar negeri, termasuk di Yale University dan School of Journalism di Columbia University, New York, Amerika Serikat.

Rosihan telah hidup dalam 'multi-zaman'. Di masa perjuangan, dirinya pernah disekap oleh penjajah Belanda di Bukitduri, Jakarta Selatan. Kemudian di masa Presiden Soekarno koran miliknya, Pedoman pada 1961 ditutup oleh rezim saat itu. Namun di masa peralihan pemerintah Orde Baru, Rosihan mendapat anugerah sebagai wartawan sejak sebelum Revolusi Indonesia dengan mendapatkan anugerah Bintang Mahaputra III, bersama tokoh pers Jakob Oetama. Sayangnya rezim Orde Baru ini pun menutup Pedoman pada tahun 1974-kurang dari setahun setelah Presiden Soeharto mengalungkan bintang itu di leher para penerimanya.

Rosihan memulai karier jurnalistiknya sebagai reporter Asia Raya di masa pendudukan Jepang tahun 1943 hingga menjadi pemimpin redaksi Siasat (1947-1957) dan Pedoman (1948-1961). Selama enam tahun, sejak 1968, ia menjabat Ketua Umum Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI). Bersama Usmar Ismail, pada 1950 ia mendirikan Perusahaan Film Nasional (Perfini). Dalam film pertamanya, Darah dan Doa, ia sekaligus menjadi figuran. Dilanjutkan sebagai produser film Terimalah Laguku. Sejak akhir 1981, aktivitasnya di film adalah mempromosikan film Indonesia di luar negeri dan tetap menjadi kritikus film sampai sekarang.

Pada tahun 2007, Rosihan Anwar dan Herawati Diah, yang ikut mendirikan Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) di Surakarta pada 1946 mendapat penghargaan 'Life Time Achievement' atau 'Prestasi Sepanjang Hayat' dari PWI Pusat.[1]

Rosihan menikah dengan Siti Zuraida Binti Moh. Sanawi pada tahun 1947 dan dikaruniai tiga anak.',
